About the Simtronics group
Simtronics group is a world class provider of sophisticated Gas and flame detection systems, Extinguishing solutions and Fire prevention systems. Our products are used worldwide to help protect life and assets.
Simtronics ASA was publicly listed in January 2007 and has more than 20 years experience in supplying gas detection for use in applications ranging from plant boiler rooms to offshore petrochemical facilities.
The Simtronics group is comprised in two divisions, Detection systems and Extinguishing solutions.
The Detection systems division focuses on gas and flame detection products and systems. Our products are designed with three core values; safety, reliability and low life cycle costs.
Infrared gas detection: The "Simrad" GD 10P has become the benchmark for point infrared gas detection on North Sea offshore installations. This detector differs from other models, because it uses highly stable silicon based infrared sources. The detector can offer an ultra fast speed of response whilst providing unparalleled service life and detector stability.
Catalytic, Electrochemical Cell and Semiconductor detectors: We also have a large range of conventional toxic, oxygen and catalytic detectors for use in demanding industrial applications where built-in flexibility and ease of maintenance are important features. For arid locations, such as in the Middle East we offer a specialist MOS hydrogen sulphide detector. This device has higher reliability and lower maintenance than comparable products and needs recalibration just once a year.
Laser based open path detectors: A further development in the area of H2S detection has seen Simtronics develop a gas-specific laser based open path gas detector. This unit can detect 5ppm hydrogen sulphide gas clouds thereby making it ideal for personnel safety monitoring whilst never needing recalibration.
Flame detectors: Our flame detector family uses a common platform with interchangeable detector cartridges to provide giving either 3IR or combined UV/2IR detection. These devices have been supplied for numerous projects ranging from FPSOs to gas turbine enclosures and aircraft hangars.
Systems: Our systems capability is complimented by the SyntelTM addressable field network. SyntelTM is often a key component in our detection solutions for petrochemical and chemical plants as well as nuclear and conventional power plants. SyntelTM has no common failure mode and has a self healing detection loop.
The Extinguishing solutions division was formed in 2007 with the acquisition of Water Mist Engineering AS (WME).
WME designs and assembles a full range of active fire fighting systems, such as low pressure water mist, deluge, sprinkler, etc. Each system is tailored to match the individual protection requirements. WME is also heavily involved in research and development of water mist nozzles and systems.
In 2008 the division expanded with the acquisition of ETech Process AS and Fire Eater A/S.
ETech Process AS manufactures on-site nitrogen generation systems utilizing membrane air separation technology. These nitrogen generation systems are used for inerting, blanketing, and purging of chemicals and other cargos. ETech membrane modules contain thousands of hair-like membranes that collectively separate large amounts of high purity, dry nitrogen directly from compressed air, which may be applied to prevent degradation of cargo sensitive to oxygen, moisture or combustion by-products. These systems are also ideal as non-freezing, non-corrosive instrument gas, and for drying of void spaces such as cofferdams.
The company’s emphasis is on in-house development of products based on environmental technology. Through the years, the company has developed a range of process products and systems, mainly within water and air/gas separation.
ETech holds numerous references within marine and offshore installations, both internationally and within the Norwegian continental shelf of the North Sea. The first nitrogen generator unit was delivered in year 2000 to ExxonMobil. Subsequently the company has moved into the maritime ship building industry, with the supply of nitrogen generators, based on membrane technology. For maritime references ETech has been a major supplier worldwide with the new ENG series.
Fire Eater A/S is known foremost for inventing the clean air extinguishing agent INERGEN® which protects valuable assets, and the 300 bar system which reduces the amount of equipment, space and cost required. Today Fire Eater A/S is specializing in developing, producing, designing, installing and maintaining fixed fire extinguishing systems around the world.
