About Simtronics
Simtronics AS, a UTC Fire and Security company, is a world class provider of sophisticated Gas and flame detection systems, Extinguishing solutions and Fire prevention systems. Our products are used worldwide to help protect life and assets.
Simtronics AS has more than 25 years experience in supplying gas detection for use in applications ranging from plant boiler rooms to offshore petrochemical facilities.
Our product areas are comprised in two divisions, Detection systems and Extinguishing solutions.
The Detection systems division offers a full complement of gas detection, industrial fire detection and integrated alarm and control systems. We design, build, test, and commission a range of conventional panels through to fault-tolerant, addressable networks.
Fire and gas detection systems
Our systems capability includes MultiSafe MX our SIL 2 or 3 approved modular multifinctional 19” rack system. MultiSafeMX is capable of conventional or addressable fire detection, gas detection, security features and fire suppression. This is complimented by the Syntel ™ our industrial addressable flame and gas monitoring system. Syntel ™ is often a key component in our detection solutions for petrochemical and chemical plants as well as nuclear and conventional power plants. Syntel ™ has no common failure mode and self-healing loop.
Flame detectors
MultiFlame uses a common platform with interchangeable cartridges to provide 3IR or combined UV/2IR detection. These devices offer optimum detection of hydrocarbon fires whilst providing excellent false alarm immunity. These devices have been supplied for numerous projects ranging from FPSOs to gas turbine enclosures and aircraft hangars.
Infrared gas detection
For more than 25 years our point IR gas detectors have set the benchmark for gas detection on North Sea offshore installations. The GD10 differs from other models, because it uses highly stable silicon based infrared sources that flash at 50Hz. The detector offers an ultra-fast speed of response whilst providing unparalleled service life and stability.
Catalytic, Electrochemical Cell and Semiconductor detectors
Our extended gas detection family (MultiTox and MultiXplo) covers oxygen, toxic and combustible gases. These products have built-in flexibility and utilizes wireless configuration for ease of maintenance.
Laser based open path detectors
The GD1 is a gas-specific laser based open path. This unit can detect 5ppm hydrogen sulphide gas clouds thereby making it ideal for personnel safety monitoring whilst never needing recalibration.
The Extinguishing solutions division is a driving force in designing, developing and producing active fire fighting systems, nitrogen generator systems and fire protection systems.
Each system is tailored to match the individual protection requirements.
Besides developing and producing all types of active fire extinguishing systems, we also engage in research and development of water mist nozzles and other fire fighting devices.
We undertake:
- Site study
- Feed study
- Design/Engineering
- Fabrication
- Testing
- Installation
- Commissioning/start-up
Our activities cover the on- and offshore oil and gas markets, petrochemical industry and marine industry, as well as aircraft hangars and the building sector.
We also manufacture on-site nitrogen generation systems utilizing membrane air separation technology. These nitrogen generation systems are used for inerting, blanketing, and purging of chemicals and other cargos. Our membrane modules contain thousands of hair-like membranes that collectively separate large amounts of high purity, dry nitrogen directly from compressed air, which may be applied to prevent degradation of cargo sensitive to oxygen, moisture or combustion by-products. These systems are also ideal as non-freezing, non-corrosive instrument gas, and for drying of void spaces such as cofferdams.
Our fire extinguishing system is primary based on the clean air extinguishing agent INERGEN® which protects valuable assets and the 300 bar system which reduces the amount of equipment, space and cost required.
