Mr Claus Fossum
Executive Vice President
Head of Detection systems division

Mr. Fossum started working in Simrad Optronics' Fire & Gas division in 2005 as Senior VP Sales and Marketing, later appointed responsible for Business Development and Marketing in Simtronics ASA group until taking over the Detection systems division in October 2009. He has previous experience from international business consultancy in Norscan Partners AS and 15 years in Scancem International, a leading international cement producer. Being CEO of a cement plant in Togo, West Africa; he was later appointed responsible for Scancem’s activities in French-speaking countries in Africa. Before joining Scancem, Mr Fossum worked 6 years with DNV in Norway, Singapore and Japan. Mr. Fossum holds an MBA from Ecole des HEC, Université de Lausanne, Switzerland and a second MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona, USA.

Dr Eliot Sizeland
Sales Director, Simtronics ASA

Prior to employment at Simtronics, Dr Sizeland was Marketing Manager of Groveley Detection Ltd, the Simtronics UK distributor. His association with the Simtronics infrared gas detectors goes back to April 2000. Prior to this he worked for Det-Tronics as the Marketing Manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Dr Sizeland graduated from the University of Wales, Swansea, Faculty of Engineering with a Bachelor’s degree and received his PhD working with semiconductor gas sensors at the University of Southampton. He is also a Chartered Engineer and member of the UK Institute of Measurement and Control.

Mr Salvator La Piana
General Manager, Simtronics SAS

Mr Lapiana is a graduate of D.U.T Génie électrique et informatique industrielle of the I.U.T of Grenoble. He has experience in industrial environment in the field of gas detection and instrumentation. During several years he has had various positions as project manager with technical and financial responsibility of major projects.

Mr Arvid Bjerkestrand
R&D Manager, Simtronics ASA

Mr Arvid Bjerkestrand has been working for Simrad Optronics for over 26 years and has spent most of his career in the company developing IR- gas detector products. He has also actively participated in marketing activities, for example, presenting the first IR gas detector in the North Sea region. Prior to that, he worked as a development engineer in the Central Institute for Industrial Research (Sintef) and Defence Research Institute (FFI).

Dr Nicolas Uschanoff
R&D Manager, Simtronics SAS

Dr Nicolas Uschanoff has been working for Simtronics for over 12 years, starting as an R&D optical engineer for infrared gas detectors development. He was appointed as R&D manager in 1999 and has been a member of the Simtronic SAS management board since 2004. Graduated with a High School diploma in Technical Drawing & Machining, he then pursued on his education in Physics at the University of Grenoble, resulting in a PhD in Physic Optics, working on very high sensitivity intra-cavity laser absorption spectroscopy.

Mrs Anne-Karin Bjerkestrand
QA and Purchasing Manager, Simtronics ASA

Mrs Anne- Karin Bjerkestrand has been working for Simrad Optronics since 1987, since 1990s she has been closely related to Fire & Gas business, worked as a maintenance technician, in 2003 she was appointed as chief production manager. Mrs Bjerkestrand has occupied numerous positions within Simrad Optronics ASA, among them she has served as employees’ representative in the Company board during 1996 – 2006.
