Simtronics launches improved toxic gas detector
Simtronics ASA, the Norwegian fire and gas safety company, today launched a new generation toxic open path gas detector. The detector is faster, safer and more cost efficient than traditional detectors available in the market today. The new product will enable Simtronics to secure an even stronger position in the market for sophisticated detectors.
[02.04.2008]The GD1 is the first "Simtronics" brand product, following the demerger from Simrad Optronics 15 months ago. It offers failsafe, reliable and robust hydrogen sulphide detector (H2S) for areas likely to see gas releases; offshore or onshore, power plants or waste water treatment plants.
The new product is a major leap for personnel safety: With a response time of no more than five seconds to a hydrogen sulphide leak - considerably faster than other toxic detection technologies - the highly sensitive GD1 is ideal for personnel safety monitoring. Furthermore, it offers real cost savings within two years: With only a single transmitter/receiver pair, the detector covers distances of up to 100 metres, cutting costs while fewer devices are needed to cover the same risk. Also, the GD1 means cost reductions for maintenance, cabling and calibration.
"The GD1 represents cutting edge gas detection technology. Our new detector delivers improved safety and reliability compared to traditional detectors. It is designed for safety and made for life," said Dr. Eliot Sizeland, Sales Director Detection Systems of Simtronics.
The new detector will be a significant product in Simtronics' portfolio, and is expected to bring revenues already in 2008, with significant revenues coming in 2009 and onwards.
"With the new gas detector, Simtronics will target new segments of the fire and gas safety markets. Not only do we move up the value chain, but we also make a serious move in the toxic gas market," said Simtronics CEO Rune Martini.
As with all Simtronics' products, the GD1 is designed for early detection of hazardous events. It is built to work safely in extreme areas and withstand the harshest environments on- and offshore.
Simtronics new toxic open path gas detector will be shown at the ISA exhibition in Edmonton, Canada, 8 and 9 April, 2008.
