The GD10PM detector ready for roll-out in Europe and South Africa
Simtronics has received the first batch of call off orders for delivery of GD10PM (Mining) to Schauenburg.
[19.02.2008]The GD10PM is thus now ready for product roll-out in Europe and South Africa and an important strategic milestone has been reach for Simtronics' entry to the global mining market segment.
The call-off order is in excess of NOK 0,7 million and delivery vil take place in Q1 2008.
The detector has been successfully tested with a major mining company in the UK, and pilot installations is running in Germany, Poland, South Africa and Russia. GD10PM (Mining) is the first infrared point gas detector on the market approved for usage direct on coal mining machinery, and will improve both safety and operational cost of the coal shearing machines. A further application will be general fixed gas detection in coal mines where the detectors long maintenance intervals will reduce operational cost significantly.
GD10PM differenciate from competing products in three main areas: (1) Safety: GD10PM will automatically detect if coal dust is blocking detection, i.e. give a signal when gas detection is inhibited. This is not the case for the traditional detectors used today , (2) Reduced operation cost: Traditional detectors requires frequent cleaning, resulting in production stops. GD10PM has proved during tests that production stops related to cleaning can be reduced more than 90% and (3) Durability: The ruggedness required for these applications is mainly achieved by using the unique Simtronics solid state infrared light source. This is also warranted through the long experience in the offshore industry.
